Christ Church

Who would have thought that I would go to church in China and that the name of it would be Christ Church (the name of my home church). We all walked in this beautiful old building wide eyed and curious. You could tell they were in the middle of renovations and that it was going to be a beautiful sacred space. We were all pleasantly surprised by their spirit filled open handed worship. There was joy on their faces, and joy in my heart. It was a momentous occasion as there is a possibility that this was the first time these little girls have been to church. It was very powerful to see everyone with their heads held high and singing out. During the welcome one of their leaders said "We are all one family in Christ"...and it took me back to the last service we had in Christ Church Rockwall as we sang the hymn, In Christ there is no East and West and in that moment I felt like a child of God, part of a very large family.

Hey Rach,
We had a nice couple of days with Lisa & David at Mexico Beach checking out a boat David is looking at. Fished all day and only caught 1. But the fellowship was great. Looks like you've had a pretty incredible and indelible two weeks - certainly qualifies for a "life changing experience." We rushed home when we got back from Mexico Beach to church to hear the Uganda Children's Choir from The Royal School and Orphanage! They are precious kids also - the stats from Uganda are horrific, AIDS and malaria taking such a huge toll. Much the same stories, mom's leaving kids in the hope that somehow they would survive and know a better life. Stirring and powerful work you are involved in my daughter. I pray rest for you, a successful wrap-up at the Embassy, and a safe trip home... plan to call in the morning to wish you happy birthday. Til then.
Love, Dad

How moving Rachael. It sounds like an experience you will never forget.

Happy birthday even though you're already asleep and your birthday is past there, but it's still your birthday here for another hour!
